Quality Enhancement Cell conducted a virtual Orientation/Interactive Session on HEC Institutional Affiliation Policy 2024 and its Implementation Plan on May 03, 2024, at 12:00pm. The participants of the session were the focal persons of affiliated colleges from respective programs, representatives of relevant administrative departments at FJWU along with academic departments’ (English, Education and Economics) focal persons. 

Training of QEC on Pakistan Precepts, Standards, and Guideline for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (PSG-2023)
A three-day training on Revamped Quality Assurance Framework 2024, a collaborative effort between QAA, UK and QAA, Pakistan, was conducted by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) for the Directors of QEC, held on March 6-8, 2024 at NUST, Islamabad.  The revamped framework not only integrates international QA standards but also incorporates localized solutions to address unique challenges faced by higher education institutions in Pakistan. This comprehensive framework underscores the commitment to continuous improvement and the pursuit of excellence in higher education, ultimately contributing to the enhancement of quality and accountability across the sector. Prof. Dr. Bushra Yasmin, Director, QEC attended the training.
Self Postgraduate Program Review (PGPR) visit:
The Quality Enhancement Cell at FJWU conducted a rigorous three-day Self Postgraduate Program Review (PGPR) visit. The PGPR Team-FJWU played a key role in facilitating the QEC during the self-evaluation process. The documents of the Postgraduate Programs underwent thorough review, and the findings were subsequently submitted for further necessary action. Additionally, Compliance Visits were conducted of Academic Departments and Administrative Offices to assess policy adherence and identify any operational gaps at FJWU. Separate sessions were held with students and faculty to gauge their satisfaction levels with available opportunities, ensuring active engagement. The Postgraduate Review concluded with a final meeting with the Vice Chancellor, discussing the path forward. Prof. Dr. Uzaira Rafique, Vice Chancellor, and Prof. Dr. Bushra Yasmin, Director QEC, awarded certificates of contribution to the members of the PGPR Committee during the closing ceremony.
4th International Conference of Pakistan Network of Quality Assurance in Higher Education (PNQAHE):
Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) at Fatima Jinnah Women University co-organized 4th International Conference of Pakistan Network of Quality Assurance in Higher Education (PNQAHE) on “Future-Proofing Quality Assurance in Higher Education” held on 3-5 March, 2024. QEC staff at FJWU contributed as scientific committee members, attended Pre-Conference Workshop and also presented papers on Academic Integrity in the Age of AI: Strategies and Policy Implementation and Project-Based experiential Learning: A Catalyst for Enhancing the Quality of Education in HEIs. Role of QEC, FJWU in improving the quality education and its best practices were shared by Ms. Nosheen Naz, Deputy Director, QEC. The Conference was attended by National and International dignitaries from Higher Education Commission, Poland, France, Bahrain, Turkiye, and Gibraltar.
Prof. Dr. Bushra Yasmin, Director QEC, received shield for co-organizing the event on the behalf of Vice Chancellor, FJWU. For branding and publicity of FJWU a stall was also set up highlighting prominent features of the university.
Empowering University Professionals with Generative AI:
From May 20th to May 22nd, 2024, Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) conducted a three-day workshop titled ‘Empowering University Professionals with Generative AI’ for its faculty and staff, initiating the ‘Generative AI for Continuous Professional Development’ series. Organized by the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), the Department of English, and the SDGs Research & Resource Centre (SRRC), the workshop supported SDGs such as Quality Education (SDG#4), Innovation (SDG#9), Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG#8), Responsible Consumption (SDG#12), and Environmental Sustainability (SDG#13). Led by Dr. Akifa Imtiaz, Dr. Farhana Khurshid, Dr. Sadia Irshad, and Ms. Nosheen Naz, the training covered AI tools for education, academic integrity, and anti-plagiarism policies. Faculty and administrative staff learned to leverage AI for research, curriculum development, teaching, and streamlining administrative processes. Prof. Dr. Bushra Yasmin emphasized Generative AI’s role in fostering innovation and efficiency, presenting findings from a pilot study on AI usage by STEMX, ELF, and PAKGPT, and addressing concerns about AI’s impact on academic integrity, Turnitin updates, and HEC’s new AI policy.
Postgraduate Program Review of SZABIST University:
Prof. Dr. Bushra Yasmin, Director QEC was invited to conduct Postgraduate Program Review of SZABIST University, Islamabad as Expert, held on 30 May, 2024.
